问题解答

I am a green card-holder with family members living abroad in my home country, and i want to have them immigrate. Can I do this?

First, congratulations on gaining legal permanent resident (legal permanent resident and green card-holder are the same thing) status; you now can enjoy the full benefits of the American economy and job market! The good news is, even a green card-holder can petition for certain relatives, namely spouses and children. The bad news is that there is a long wait time involved in this process. Almost always making things easier is for you to take the final step and become a naturalized American citizen. Citizens do not have the waiting periods for petitioning on behalf of relatives, and can also petition for parents and a fiancé or fiancée.

In addition to family-based immigration, if your relatives have certain special skills or the right amount of resources to invest, there are other potential immigration options for them, such as employment-based or investor immigration.
